The Assessor has developed an on-line tool to provide an estimate of the amount of property taxes a homeowner can expect to pay if they have recently transferred a property from parent to child, or from grandparent to grandchild under Prop 19, effective February 16, 2021. Please note that the estimator is intended for Prop 19 transfers only. If you would like an estimate for a transfer of ownership outside the context of Prop 19, please use the Supplemental Tax Estimator at https://www.sccassessor.org/index.php/online-services/supplemental-calculator .
Do not use the estimate to pay the supplemental tax bill, use only the amount provided in the supplemental tax bill. This system is best viewed using Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. Please contact us with your comments or suggestions.
Disclaimer:
Information is provided using the Assessor’s current understanding of this new law, for which statewide standards and regulations have not yet been finalized. Additionally it relies upon the most current tax rate and assessment roll information available. In many instances, calculations will be based on prior year information. For example, calculations between February and May will be based upon tax rates from the prior August and Assessment information from the prior July. The assessment calculations provided are estimates only. When paying supplemental taxes, a property owner must use the amount provided on the supplemental bill, issued by the Department of Tax and Collections.
